I get a message saying 'invalid login details' 22.
Why does the camera identifier disappear? 23.
Will there be more cameras on HANET to cover the whole
country? Yes. Please see the 'Change Password' link in the header
(Available after login). 2. Can I share my
username and password with colleagues, friends, family and anybody else? No. Under no circumstances should
users share usernames or passwords. See section 3.1 of the HANET Operational Terms
and Conditions. 3. Can I use the system
from home? The HANET system is not designed
to be used from home or domestic purposes. However, it is possible to use the
system from any internet enabled PC. Please see your copy of the HANET
Operational Terms and Conditions document detailing guidelines for the usage
and operation of the HANET System to ensure that the system is used in a safe
and responsible manner. 4. Can I view images from
regions other than the one I work in? Yes. All authorised users are able to view all images on the HANET
Operational system. 5. Can individuals and/or
vehicles be identified once zooming in on an incident? The HANET Operational system has been designed to disseminate low
quality images to minimize risk of vehicles and/or people being identified.
Images are automatically blanked to Standard Operational Users once a preset
camera zoom level has been reached. Furthermore, HANET Operational images are
captured every 6 seconds at best and hence do not provide a continuous video
stream. Coupling these technical attributes with thorough blanking procedures,
it is highly unlikely that vehicles or people will be identified. To prevent misuse of the HANET Operational system activity logging
makes it possible to control and monitor real-time user activity.
Administrators can monitor HANET Operational usage remotely and produce a
centralized viewing log of users performing, say, unauthorized activities. Details
logged include incorrect/duplicate logins, incorrect/duplicate passwords, IP
addresses of each computer, time outs/missed heart beats (security feature),
time/date and equipment status and so on. The administrators maintain three
events logs indefinitely to monitor user activity: 7. Can Standard Users
blank images to Operational Users? No. User levels are defined in order of precedence. Standard
Operational Users cannot blank to High Level Operational Users. 8. Can users get camera
control? No. HANET Operational can only be used to view cameras; there is
no camera control facility. 9. Do cameras un-blank
themselves? No. It is recommended that cameras be un-blanked by the blanker or
his/her regional colleague. 10. How do I change the
picture/camera size? This facility is not available in
HANET Operational. 11. How many camera
pop-ups can I open at any one time? It is not possible to open more the 6 pop-ups at any one time. The
system has been specifically designed to limit the number of pop-ups each user
can open at once. Camera images can become burdensome on the local area
computer network due to the complexity of image data being transferred to your
computer via your network. Increasing the number of images open over 6 could
potentially slow the local network down. 12. I am clicking a
camera but the image window does not open The permission level does not affect which cameras you can view,
just which permission level you can blank a camera to. All user levels can see
all cameras available on HANET Operational at any one time. If you can see the green camera icons on the map and clicking them
doesn't work, you may have a pop-up blocker enabled which is stopping the
camera windows from opening. Similarly if you are clicking a camera from the
list on the right of the screen it may be that the pop-up blocker is stopping
the image being displayed. 13. If I
blank an image, can my colleague of the same user level un-blank the camera? Yes. The HANET Operational blanking procedure is level-specific
and not user-specific. Users of the same level are able to blank and un-blank
images during incidents and so on. No, the HANET Operational architecture is independent of any
existing CCTV system. Furthermore, blanking images on HANET Operational will
not have any affect your current system. 15. Is
HANET Operational open for the general public? No. HANET Operational is reserved for Highways
Agency staff and its stakeholders. Public users can however, access the HANET
Operational images via Traffic England - the Highways Agency's travel information website. 16. Should
I blank images if I see a fatal accident? Yes. Images of fatal accidents
should be made available to High Level Operational Users only. 17. Should
I log out after my shift is over? Yes. It is recommended that each user selects the 'Log Out' option
on the user screen to log off at the end of each shift. When a camera is blanked
during an incident and a shift transition period, it is suggested that the new
user is made aware of this through an incident log or verbally during handover.
See section 2.5 of your HANET Operational Terms and Conditions. 18. What
if I forget my password? You can click the "forgot password?" link on the homepage. Type
your username in the space provided and click the "submit" button. Your
password will be reset to a randomly generated one and sent to the email
address associated with your username. 19. When
I try to log in I get a message saying 'duplicate logins are not allowed' The duplicate logon screen is caused by one of two problems: 1.
After logging on to HANET Operational,
the screen is closed by use of the x at the top right of the screen rather than
the log out option. This will result in your username being temporarily stored
in the system. After 10 minutes or so this will rectify itself and allow you to
logon. 2.
The page has been cached with your
logon name entered. To rectify this simply delete the contents of your
temporary internet folder. (in internet explorer click tools, internet options
then the delete files button in the middle of the screen under the heading
temporary internet files, tick the box to delete all files) 20. When I try to log in
I get a message saying 'invalid login details' The details you have entered do not match those in
the HANET Operational database. Note that all user details are case sensitive.
If you still cannot log on then you should contact the HANET
Helpdesk for further assistance. 21. When I try to log in I get a message saying 'The
user limit for your area has been reached. Please try again later.' The system has
reached its maximum capacity and will not let any more users log on. Once a
user has logged off you will be able to gain access to the system. If the
problem persists then you should check the news and faults sections of the
website for any relevant information, then contact the HANET
Helpdesk. 22. Why
does the camera identifier disappear? With the use of remote system monitoring, the HANET Operational
administrators and engineers have the ability to identify selected problems.
Isolated areas will then be removed for maintenance. During this maintenance
period, the green cameras will identifiers disappear. 23. Will
there be more cameras on HANET Operational to cover the whole country? Yes. The HANET Operational
system is connected to the Highways Agency CCTV camera network. All available
Highways Agency cameras are automatically available on HANET Operational. |
