SYSTEM OPERATION

System Logon

Logon to the HANET Operational system is over a secure encrypted link and the first time you logon using your allocated username and password you will be presented with the web security certificate box. You must press the yes button to proceed.

You are not permitted to login using the same username and password on two separate PCs at the same time. If this is done deliberately then after 3 failed login attempts the system maintainer will be alerted. This may also occur unintentionally if you close down your browser without logging out then attempt to open the browser and login again. If this is the case then wait for at least two minutes before attempting to logon again.

User Levels

HANET Operational has 2 different user levels, High Level Operational User and Standard Operational User. The reason for different user levels is for the blanking operation where a High Level Operational User is permitted to blank or un-blank cameras to the Standard Operational Users should they wish to do so. Your user level will be assigned at the time of registration.

Standard Operational Users are not permitted to blank cameras.

Map Selection Page

Following successful login to HANET Operational you are presented with the map selection page which allows selection of the RCC areas covered by HANET Operational. You can either click on the text links or on the specific areas on the map itself.

RCC Map Display

Following the selection of an RCC region, a zoomed in map of that area will be displayed showing the individual PCO areas. Select a PCO area using the map or text links and you will be taken to the Camera Map Display.

Camera Pop-ups

On clicking on an available camera, a popup will be displayed containing the camera image. You must ensure that pop-ups are enabled within your browser otherwise they will not be displayed. This image will be updated at a nominal rate of every six seconds. This rate is dependant on the amount of available bandwidth which will also be affected by your internet connection and the total number of open pop-ups by all users of the system - more pop-ups means more bandwidth being used.

It is possible to have up to 6 pop-ups open at any one time.

Should the camera not be available to Standard Operational Users those users will have the "Camera Unavailable" image displayed to them.

For all camera images the camera identifier and description will be shown in the title bar of the pop-up.

As each new pop-up is opened it will be tiled on your display. A maximum of 6 pop-ups can be viewed concurrently.  Closing your main browser or logging out will automatically close all open pop-ups.

Faulty Cameras

If there is a system fault relating to a camera, or if a camera is disabled, then the icon of that camera will not be displayed on the map. Such faults are automatically reported to the system maintainer. Should the system become faulty whilst you are viewing the popup of an affected camera, the image will change to a system fault image.

If you are viewing a popup reporting a system fault and the fault clears, the popup will resume normal updating before the camera icon reappears on the map. In this way it is possible to view a camera that is not shown on the map, however the map will be updated to correctly display the camera after a maximum of one minute.

* When a camera is blanked by an operator in the RCC, it will not be made available to Standard Operational Users.  The High Level Operational Users will be able to view the camera images, but will not be able to "un-blank" the camera to Standard Operational Users – only the RCC is able to do this.  The High Level Operational User will be able to HANET-Blank the camera but this will not have any effect until the camera is un-blanked by the RCC.

A camera that is both blanked and HANET blanked will use a "half and half" blue/amber icon, so it is immediately apparent to the user as to what the status of the camera is.
